Trevor here with the latest Escape Club News, some exciting, some sad.
GIGS
A Summer Tour of the USA starts on August 23rd in San Diego. Hope to see some of you there.
NEW MERCH
We have two new T-Shirt designs. Anyone wearing one at the gigs will get a special thank you from me !
They’re only available in the US store at the moment but we’ll have them up on the UK store soon.
JOHNNIE CHRISTO
Our beloved bassist, Johnnie passed away in July after a long battle with cancer. I knew it was coming but even so it’s been hard to accept. I spoke to him a couple of days before he died and his last request was that I sing ‘I’ll be There’ at his funeral. I of course said yes but secretly thought ‘thanks mate, how do you think I’m going to get through it without cracking up.’ He sensed my reticence and said to ask Joe Bailey to help on guitar and harmony vocals.
I’m pleased to say that when the sad day came, Joe propped me up with guitar and harmonies and we managed to sing it without faltering. It was good that we could bring some live music to remember him by and honour his request.
I’ll always miss him x
UK GIG
Johnnie’s final gig at the Corn Exchange in Hertford was everything he’d hoped it would be. It was a magical night and fans from all over the UK came to celebrate. We have a recording from the desk and I’m working on mixing a live album which will come out later on this year. Johnnie asked me to thank everyone who came to make his last gig so special. Charlotte, his daughter told me that he was listening to the recording during his last days on our planet.
To give you a taste of things to come, here’s a link to ‘Freedom’ from that gig.
